Claire Gutherman is a 19 year old artist and animator living in Philadelphia, PA. She has been creating artwork all her life. Claire spends most of her time drawing and painting, showing talent in both realistic and stylized ways. Claire loves to paint characters and people, which she has been doing ever since she was in middle school. Throughout the years, this love of creating characters has inspired her to study animation in hopes of becoming a character animator and concept artist.

Claire is a second-year animation student at Drexel University’s Westphal College of Media Arts and Design. She has a year’s worth of experience in 3D modeling, texturing, lighting, and rendering, showing remarkable progress. In the past few months, Claire has been working on animation and rigging techniques. She has completed multiple beginner-level 3D animated short projects and is learning more about 3D animation through school.

In addition to 3D animation, Claire has drawn 2D animation frame by frame on paper, in flipbooks, and on her computer, where she first began to learn the principles of animation. Claire also has experimented a lot in stop motion. She has worked on several stop-motion shorts in the past year. Most notably, she has hand animated a stop motion lyric video for her musician friend, which is her longest and most advanced animation to date.

Claire is well versed in many traditional art mediums, such as pencil, alcohol markers, acrylic paint, and gouache. Claire is also known to work with duct tape in her free time, which she uses to create advanced collages. Through her time at Drexel, Claire has expanded her artistic horizons to digital mediums. She is sufficient in Autodesk Maya, Adobe Suites (Photoshop, Illustrator, Substance Painter, Premiere Pro, and After Effects), and Nuke. Due to her accomplishments in stop motion, Claire is also proficient in photography and using a digital camera.

Today, Claire is working towards finishing her animation degree and using her many skills to get a job in the animation industry.
